George Harrison's widow, Olivia, has told Billboard Magazine that she and son Dhani Harrison are looking to put out more unreleased tracks by the late Beatle, according to the July 30 print issue published July 22. “There are a lot of songs. I think there is a project there. I just need time to get to it” she told the magazine's Selma Fonseca in Las Vegas. Harrison was in town for the 10th anniversary celebration for the Beatles' musical “LOVE” at the Mirage Hotel, though she was not in attendance at the July 14 show when Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, and Sean Lennon and other stars showed up to celebrate the milestone because she was feeling “unwell,” a spokesman said. The evening's show included an appearance and post-show comments from McCartney, Starr and producer Giles Martin. Dhani Harrison also did not attend because of work commitments.
Early Takes: Volume 1, which came out in 2012, was a companion piece to the Martin Scorsese's biographical film about Harrison, “Living in the Material World,” and contained 10 unheard versions of Harrison songs. The track list included “My Sweet Lord,” “Let It Be Me,” “Behind That Locked Door” and “All Things Must Pass.” The reissue of his album All Things Must Pass in 2001 with added tracks, and the demo of “Isn't It a Pity” that was released in 2009 on the iTunes version of the Harrison compilation Let It Roll: The Songs of George Harrison, had been two earlier releases of unheard music from the late Beatle's vaults. The box sets George Harrison: The Apple Years and George Harrison: The Dark Horse Years also contained bonus tracks.
The Harrison news was not the only headline to come out of Las Vegas. Yoko Ono told the magazine her work on a new album had been delayed by her bout with the flu and a brief hospital stay in February, but all that is in the past. “That derailed the whole situation,” she said. “Everything in my body is OK now, but I have a problem walking.” She said she wanted to be a “little more normal” before continuing with the record. Ono walked very slowly with assistance on the arm of a record company spokesman while on the red carpet in Las Vegas before the “LOVE” 10th anniversary show.
The July 30 Billboard issue saw the Beatles' Abbey Road album return to the Billboard 200 chart at No. 70 thanks to selling 80,000 units in a week because of special pricing on iTunes, the magazine said. It was the album's highest ranking since it hit No. 48 on Dec. 4, 2010. Abbey Road also re-entered the magazine's Album Sales chart at No. 34.
